Komatsu PC300-8 filter set: air elements 600-185-5110 and 600-185-5120, hydraulic 207-60-71181, fuel 600-319-3610 and oil 6742-01-4540

Komatsu publishes a specification page for every filter it sells, and publishes no fitment list on any of them. That single gap explains most of the wrong orders on a 30-tonne machine: the buyer has a model badge, the supplier has a catalogue, and nobody has the whole set of numbers in one place.

Everything below was read from Komatsu's own parts pages on 2 November 2026. Where a machine dimension appears it comes from a Komatsu brochure, cited in the text.

Two things about that table. First, four of nine rows carry no size at all, because Komatsu does not print one — we would rather leave the cell empty than fill it with a supplier's bounding box. Second, the fitment column is missing on purpose: Komatsu's pages name the part, grade and size but never the machines. Where we say a number is listed for the PC300-8 it comes from supplier catalogues, which is a starting point, not a certificate.

2. One Engine, Two Machines

The 350 is not a different engine family; it is the same SAA6D114E-3 in a wider undercarriage with a bigger bucket. Komatsu even prints both machines in one brochure with one engine specification and one air cleaner line. That has a straightforward commercial consequence for a fleet: three PC300-8s and one PC350LC in the same yard share one air filter number, one lube cartridge and one fuel set. Stocking them separately is the expensive way to do it.

Note the rating drift rather than smoothing it: the PC300-8 brochure quotes 184 kW net, the later PC300/350-8M0 brochure quotes 187 kW. Same engine code, two printed figures, so we show both.

3. Trap One: The Air Cleaner Is Sold Three Ways

A kit that measures 419 × 276 against an element at 405 × 282 is not the same article with a different label. Fourteen millimetres on height and six across is a different moulding, and Komatsu also grades the media differently — High Efficiency against Standard White. They may sit in similar housings; they do not swap.

The second half of this trap is the double element. Komatsu's brochure specifies a dry type cleaner with two elements, and the safety element 600-185-5120 nests inside the main one. It is not a spare for the main element and it will not carry the dust load on its own — it exists to protect the engine during the window between a damaged main element and its replacement. Anyone quoting you "one air filter for a PC300-8" is quoting half a cleaner. Order the 5110 main element and the 5120 safety together, or order the 5100 kit and check its 419 × 276 figures against your housing.

4. Trap Two: Four Hydraulic Numbers, One Name

Komatsu files 207-60-71181, 207-60-71180, 207-60-71182 and 20Y-60-31121 under one name — Hydraulic Filter — and one style, Element. Only one of them has a published measurement block: 207-60-71182, which Komatsu brands Eco-White and specifies as glass fiber media, 200 mm long, 150 wide and 150 high. The other three print "Element" and stop.

The aftermarket closes that gap by merging the family into one cross. A single P550787, HF35360 or PT9351MPG is catalogued against 71180, 71181, 71182 and 71183 at once, and for a paper element in a pilot circuit that is often perfectly fine. The failure mode is quieter: the machine came with the glass-fibre Eco-White element, the cross supplies a paper one, and nobody notices until the return filter's service interval starts coming up short. On the hydraulic side of a 30-tonne machine, the media grade is the specification — not the thread, not the can.

So we ask two questions before quoting a hydraulic element for these machines: which number was on the element you removed, and does the substitute state its media. If a supplier cannot answer the second, the cross is a guess with a part number on it.

5. Trap Three: The Fuel Side, Where One Block Changes

NumberNameDiameterLength / heightThread

600-319-3750Main Fuel Filter94 mm176.3 mm long7/8-14UNF-2B

600-311-8321Main Fuel FilterNot published145 mm highCartridge-Element

Look at the first two rows. Both cans are 94 mm across. On a shelf, in a photo, on a packing list, they are the same object; the difference is a thread, 1-14UNS-2B against 7/8-14UNF-2B, and 8 mm of length. A buyer who orders "the 94 mm fuel filter" gets a 50 percent chance and a machine standing still while the second parcel clears customs.

Then the middle block. 600-319-3750 and 600-311-3750 are both live Komatsu part numbers, both named Main Fuel Filter, and only the 319 one publishes its dimensions. That is the sort of pair that gets transcribed by hand from a photo of a box and never questioned. Read the middle block digit by digit, and photograph the old filter's thread rather than describing it.

On the -8 build specifically, the fuel side is the one place where the generation gap matters more than the model badge. The SAA6D114E-3 runs a high-pressure common rail system, and supplier catalogues list the 600-319-3750 spin-on for the PC200-8 generation and the 6754-79-6140 cartridge for machines in the same family, while the 600-311-8321 cartridge belongs to the earlier -7 filtration layout. Both are called main fuel filter. The serial in the parts book decides, and if you do not have the parts book, the element in your hand does.

6. The Two Items Buyers Forget

The engine oil element, 6742-01-4540, is a 302 mm cartridge with dual media — not a spin-on can, which is what most buyers picture when they hear "oil filter". Order it as a cartridge and check the housing cap before the service, because a cartridge that arrives with the wrong end-cap seal is a filter you cannot fit.

The second is the corrosion resistor, 600-411-1191, a small spin-on at Ø 97.5 × 99.6 mm on an 11/16-16UN thread. It sits on the cooling side, it is cheap, and it is the item most often missing from a kit built by counting the filters a mechanic can see. If your kits keep coming up one item short, it is usually this one.

7. What This Page Does Not Publish

No prices: they depend on quantity, whether the order is one service or a year of them, and the lane. No micron ratings or efficiency percentages: Komatsu prints grade names for these numbers, not beta ratios, and a table cell invented to look complete is worse than an empty one. No claim that a supplier cross is a fitment. And no pretence that a model name identifies a machine — the PC300-8 and PC300-8M0 are not the same build, and the parts book is the only document that settles which one you own.

What we do instead is confirm the set against the machine before it ships. Send the model, the serial prefix, a photo of the engine plate and the measurements off the elements you removed, and the numbers come back as one quotation with one freight cost, packed and labelled by circuit.

FAQ

Q: What filters does a Komatsu PC300-8 take?
A: The service set is 600-185-5110 main air element with 600-185-5120 safety element inside it, 207-60-71181 hydraulic element, 600-319-3610 pre-fuel spin-on, a main fuel filter that is either 600-319-3750 or the cartridge 6754-79-6140 depending on build, 6742-01-4540 engine oil cartridge, and 600-411-1191 corrosion resistor. Komatsu publishes a specification for each of those numbers but no fitment list, so the count of each position comes from the parts book for your serial, not from a model name.

Q: Is Komatsu 600-185-5100 the same filter as 600-185-5110?
A: No. Komatsu files 600-185-5100 as an Air Filter Kit with Element Kit style and publishes it at 419 mm high, 276 wide and 276 deep in High Efficiency media. 600-185-5110 is filed as an Air Filter, Element style, 405 mm high, 282 wide and 282 deep in Standard White media. The 14 mm height and 6 mm difference across mean they are separate articles, not two labels for one part. 600-185-5120, the safety element, has no published dimensions at all and sits inside the main element rather than replacing it.

Q: Are Komatsu 207-60-71181 and 207-60-71182 the same hydraulic filter?
A: They are separate Komatsu numbers. 207-60-71182 is the one with a published specification block: Komatsu brands it Eco-White and gives the media as glass fiber at 200 mm long, 150 wide and 150 high. 207-60-71181 publishes the style Element and nothing else. Most aftermarket catalogues merge 71180, 71181, 71182 and 71183 into a single cross such as P550787, HF35360 or PT9351MPG, which is why a glass-fibre Eco-White element can quietly be replaced with a paper one. Ask what media the substitute uses before you accept the cross.

Q: Will PC300-8 filters fit a PC350-8?
A: On the engine side, yes on paper: both machines are printed on Komatsu brochures with the SAA6D114E-3 engine and the same dry-type double-element air cleaner line, so the air pair, the lube cartridge and the fuel set are shared. Do not extend that to the hydraulic circuit. The return and pilot elements sit in housings that are not tied to the engine, and Komatsu publishes no model list for them, so confirm those two against the element you remove. A shared engine is a good reason to stock one air number for both machines; it is not a reason to order hydraulic elements blind.

Send the Serial, Not the Model Name

One photo of the engine plate and the measurements off the elements you pulled settles 600-185-5100 against 600-185-5110 and 207-60-71181 against 207-60-71182 in a single message. We quote the whole PC300-8 / PC350-8 set as one order, labelled by circuit, FOB Shanghai or CIF to your port.
