One Letter Between Two Filters

Every Hyundai number in the -9 range starts with an eleven, and two of them look almost the same: 11N8-70110 and 11NA-70110. The first is this filter — 93 mm outside, 174 mm high, thread 1 1/8-16 UN, the size that sits on a four-cylinder or small six in a 14 to 30 tonne machine. The second is the larger element that goes on the R360LC-7A and the HL770-9 loader, and the aftermarket crosses it to Fleetguard LF9009 and Baldwin BD7309.

The practical rule is simple: on an R210, R220, R235, R250, R290 or R300, the oil filter ends in N8. If a quote comes back cheap and the number reads NA, it is a different can and it will not seal on your head.

Why the Cross-Reference Matters More Than the Number

LF3970 is the reference to compare against, because it is sold under several engine-maker numbers — Cummins 3937144 and 3937736 among them — and is therefore stocked almost everywhere. A supplier quoting "Hyundai oil filter, equivalent to LF3970, 93 x 174 mm, 1 1/8-16" is telling you the three things that decide fitment. A supplier quoting only the Hyundai number is asking you to trust the box.

Where the published numbers disagree is weight and packaging, not size. Treat the shipping weight on a listing as a freight figure rather than a specification, and check the diameter, height and thread against the old element.

Ordering Notes

  • Send the model and serial. The same 11N8-70110 is used across the -9 range, but the filter around it changes — the R210LC-9 and R210NLC-9, for example, take different hydraulic return elements.
  • Buy in service sets. Oil, fuel, air cleaner outer and safety, pilot, return, drain and breather. Eight elements cover a full service on this machine.
  • Aftermarket, stated plainly. We supply aftermarket elements cross-referenced to Hyundai numbers. Hyundai is a trademark of its owner, used here to describe fitment only.
  • No published prices. The quote depends on quantity, packing and the shipping lane — ask and you get a firm figure, FOB Shanghai or CIF.
