The Hyundai 21-tonne class is one of the busiest excavator fleets in West Africa, the Gulf and Latin America, and its ground engaging tools move in volume because of it. It is also the class where buyers most often order the wrong tooth. Ask four suppliers what an R210 bucket tooth is and you get four answers that are all defensible, because Hyundai kept the same machine badge across two tooth generations and put a third, much heavier system on the rock buckets.
What follows is the whole published picture, with the numbers as the wear-parts catalogues print them. Nothing here is a list price — a tooth box is quoted as tooth plus pin plus retainer plus adapter, and the freight lane moves the number more than the casting does.
The three systems published for the 21-tonne class
Read the weight column first. It separates the systems faster than the part numbers do, and it is the one figure you can check yourself with a kitchen scale.
| E161-3027 family | 61N6-31310 family | 61Q6-31310 family | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard point | E161-3027 — 4.50 kg | 61N6-31310 — 5.80 kg | 61Q6-31310 — 6.50 kg |
| Rock chisel (RC) | E161-3027RC — 4.80 kg | 61N6-31310RC — 5.10 kg | 61Q6-31310RC — 6.20 kg |
| Tiger long (TL) | E161-3027TL — 6.10 kg | — | 61Q6-31310TL — 5.70 kg |
| Pin | E161-3035 — 0.23 kg | E161-3035 — 0.23 kg | E161-3035 — 0.23 kg |
| Retainer | 61E5-11150 — 0.05 kg | 61E5-11150 — 0.05 kg | 61E5-11150 — 0.05 kg |
| Weld-on adapter | E161-3017 — 35 mm opening 9.80 kg; 40 mm opening 9.10 kg; 35 mm bevel 7.40 kg | 61N6-31320 — 40 mm opening 9.50 kg | 61Q6-31320 — 35 mm vertical 10.00 kg; 32 mm bevel 9.80 kg |
| Machines on the fit rows | R130 / R200 / R210 general (printed against the E161-3017 adapter rows) | R200-7 and R210-7 generation on foundry rows | R210 / R220 / R235 on a Hyundai dealer listing; R210-7 / R220-7 in the wear-parts catalogue; R225-9 |
The heaviest tooth of the three is 6.50 kg and the lightest is 4.50 kg — a 2 kg spread inside one machine name, which is exactly what turns a small ordering mistake into a returned container.
The pin will not tell you which tooth you have
This is the part most buyers get backwards. All three systems are published with the same hardware: pin E161-3035 at 0.23 kg and retainer 61E5-11150 at 0.05 kg. A distributor page for a 61Q6 tooth describes the E161-3035 pin the same way a distributor page for the E161 tooth does. So if you order on the pin number, you learn nothing about which casting you need.
The adapter is where the systems actually separate: 35 mm, 40 mm and a 32 mm bevel appear inside the same R210 fitment group, and one number — E161-3017 — is published at both 35 mm and 40 mm. Measure the opening in the bucket nose and the pin with a caliper, shank then length, and the ambiguity disappears. Photos of the old tooth sitting in the bucket beat any part number in a message thread.
Where the catalogues contradict each other
Two real disagreements are worth knowing before you quote:
- The -7 generation is filed under two numbers. Foundry rows attach 61N6-31310, 5.80 kg, to the R200-7 and R210-7 machines, while a wear-parts catalogue prints 61Q6-31310 against a fit column reading R210-7 / R220-7 — and a Hyundai dealer listing carries 61Q6-31310 for the R210, R220 and R235. Same machine, two castings, both rows published. Weigh the tooth you are replacing: 5.80 kg or 6.50 kg settles it.
- One catalogue repeats an adapter number in the pin position. The 61N6-31320 row appears twice in the same list — once as a 9.50 kg vertical adapter with a 40 mm opening, once at 0.23 kg, which is pin weight. Only one of those can be the adapter. Ask the supplier which line they are reading from.
This kind of doubling is not unusual in wear-parts catalogues, and it is the reason we ask for the old pin measurement rather than a part number whenever a customer's machine is in the -7 generation.
The 9 kg tooth on a 21-tonne machine
Then there is the row that surprises people. Fitment lists for the 61N8-31310GG rock point — a long, heavy rock tooth — name the R210LC-9 and R210LC-9BC, and distributor rows extend the same tooth to the HW210, HX220L, HX220NL, HX235LCR, HX260L, HX300L, HX330L, R220LC-9, R250LC-7, R260LC-9S, R290LC-7 and R300LC-9S. That is R290-class hardware sitting on R210 buckets, and it is normal: the 9-series R210 was sold with a five-tooth rock bucket option.
| Rock bucket hardware | Number | Quoted weight |
|---|---|---|
| Rock point (long, GG) | 61N8-31310GG | Quoted by distributors as the heavy rock option; the standard 61N8-31310 point is 9.00 kg |
| Tiger long | 61N8-31310TL | 10.00 kg |
| Weld-on adapter | 61N8-31320 — 40 mm vertical | 13.8 kg |
| Pin | E262-5004 | 0.26 kg |
| Retainer | 61E5-11150 | 0.05 kg |
Note the pin: E262-5004, not E161-3035. The retainer stays the same. So on a rock-bucket R210 the tooth is 4 kg heavier and the adapter is 4 kg heavier than the standard build, but the retainer you keep on the shelf is unchanged. If your bucket carries five teeth and the casting you took off weighs around 9 kg, you are in this system and the standard R210 tooth will not seat.
What the machine itself actually is
Hyundai's own published figures for the R210LC-9, which is the machine most of these buckets arrived on:
| Item | Hyundai published figure |
|---|---|
| Operating weight | 21.9 t (48,281 lb) |
| Bucket capacity | 0.92 m³ (1.2 yd³) |
| Engine | HYUNDAI HE 6.7, Tier 3 |
| Rated power | 112 kW / 1,900 rpm (150 hp) |
| Max torque | 63.5 kgf·m / 1,500 rpm |
| Fuel / hydraulic tank | 400 L / 160 L |
| Boom / arm | 5,680 mm / 2,920 mm |
| Max digging depth / reach | 6,730 mm / 9,980 mm |
| Max dumping height | 6,780 mm |
| Min swing radius | 3,740 mm |
Be ready for the disagreement on weight, because it lands in your inbox. A spec sheet in circulation puts the same machine at 22,650 kg and 112.7 kW gross; a specification database lists the operating weight at 54,740.8 lb, which is 24.8 t; another trade listing prints 51,100 lb, or 23.2 t. A North American trade listing quotes the bucket range as 0.67 to 1.75 yd³ rather than the single 0.92 m³ figure Hyundai publishes.
That last figure is the useful one. A 0.67 yd³ bucket and a 1.75 yd³ bucket do not take the same tooth, and the heavy end of that range is the rock bucket — which is why the 9 kg 61N8 point is published against an R210LC-9. When a customer tells us the machine is an R210, the second question is always what bucket is on it.
Side cutters, so the box arrives complete
Buckets in this class are re-edged in the same workshop as the teeth are changed, so cutters travel on the same order:
| Side cutter | Quoted weight each | Fit row |
|---|---|---|
| 63E1-3533 / 63E1-3534 — 5-hole | 20.80 kg | R200 / R210 / R290 / R320 |
| R210 / XD210 — 5-hole | 15.80 kg | R200 / R210 |
| 63E1-3533C / 63E1-3534C — 5-hole | 18.10 kg | R215 |
They come as a left and a right, and the weights differ between the R210 and R215 rows, so quote them by machine rather than by "R210 cutter".
How to order without a return
Four things settle a Hyundai 21-tonne tooth order: the machine model with its serial prefix; a photo of the old tooth in the bucket; the pin measured with a caliper, shank then length; and the tooth on a scale. Send those and the quote comes back firm on tooth, pin, retainer, adapter and cutters on one line, FOB Shanghai or CIF to your port.
If the machine is a -7 and the numbers do not add up, send the weight you read on the scale and the opening you measured in the nose. Those two figures identify the system faster than any part number will.
FAQ
Q: Which bucket teeth does a Hyundai R210 take?
A: Three systems are published for the class: E161-3027 at 4.50 kg (RC 4.80 kg, TL 6.10 kg) on adapter E161-3017; 61N6-31310 at 5.80 kg (RC 5.10 kg) on adapter 61N6-31320 with a 40 mm opening; and 61Q6-31310 at 6.50 kg (RC 6.20 kg, TL 5.70 kg) on adapter 61Q6-31320. All three share pin E161-3035 and retainer 61E5-11150.
Q: Do the R210-7 and R210-9 use the same bucket tooth?
A: Not as the catalogues print it. 61N6-31310, 5.80 kg, is attached to the R200-7 and R210-7 rows; 61Q6-31310, 6.50 kg, is the number a Hyundai dealer listing carries for the R210, R220 and R235 and which fits the R225-9. Same pin, so weigh the old casting to tell them apart.
Q: Can the 9 kg 61N8 rock tooth be fitted to an R210?
A: Yes — fitment rows list 61N8-31310GG for the R210LC-9 and R210LC-9BC, and for the HW210, HX220L, HX235LCR, HX260L, R220LC-9, R250LC-7 and R290LC-7, on the 13.8 kg 61N8-31320 adapter with pin E262-5004. It is a bucket question, not a machine question.
Q: What pin and retainer does a Hyundai R210 bucket tooth use?
A: Pin E161-3035 at 0.23 kg with retainer 61E5-11150 at 0.05 kg for E161-3027, 61N6-31310 and 61Q6-31310. The 61N8 rock system uses pin E262-5004 at 0.26 kg with the same retainer.
