Kobelco SK200-8 Filters: The 94 mm Cartridge and the Numbers That Disagree
The Kobelco SK200-8 runs the Hino J05E. Its fuel side takes one spin-on can, VH23390E0050 (Hino 23390-E0050), and a 94 mm cartridge family sold as YN21P01088R100, YN21P01068R100 and YN21P01036R100. Every one of those cartridges publishes 94 mm outside and a 26 mm bore; they differ in height and in micron rating — and that difference is where orders go wrong.
Kobelco is the one major brand our shelves had nothing on until this week, and the -8 generation 20-tonne machine is everywhere in Indonesia, the Gulf and West Africa. Its filter numbers get quoted on forums with a confidence the catalogues do not support, so below is what the machine actually takes, with a source for each row and the disagreements left standing rather than averaged away.
1. The set, position by position
Sakura runs the SK200-8 as Hino J05E and lists cabin air, fuel and hydraulic filters against it; cross-referencing those to Kobelco numbers gives the table below. Where a number is not established by a catalogue I trust, the row stays empty — a blank is cheaper than a wrong part.
| Position | Kobelco number | Filter-brand cross | Published size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fuel, spin-on can | VH23390E0050 (Hino 23390-E0050) | Sakura FC-55241 | 210 mm high, 108 mm OD, 1-14 UNS-2B, square gasket 99.5 / 89.5 mm |
| Fuel, cartridge | YN21P01088R100 | Sakura EF-27014 | 156.5 mm high, 94 mm OD, bore 26 mm (44 mm at the base) |
| Fuel, cartridge | YN21P01036R100 | Sakura EF-2701 | 167 mm overall, 155 mm media, 94 mm OD, bore 26 mm |
| Fuel, cartridge | YN21P01068R100 | EXCO FX46385 (Sakura EF-2701) | 162.7 mm overall, 94.5 mm OD, bore 26.2 mm |
| Hydraulic return | YN52V01016 family | Sakura H-7923 / H-4101-S / H-41013-S | 249 mm overall, 231 mm media, 144 mm OD, bore 96.5 mm, thread 4 7/16-11 G |
| Cabin air | — | Sakura CA-41010 / CA-41020-S / CA-45050 | 17 × 200 × 189.5 mm / 15 × 490 × 123 mm, two per set / 47.5 × 240 × 193.5 mm |
Two things stand out. The machine carries at least three fuel cartridges in the same envelope, not one. And the cabin filter is not one part either — three numbers against one SK200-8 entry usually means fresh air, recirculating and a superseded early design.
2. One envelope, four numbers
On paper the three cartridges are nearly the same object: 94 mm across, 26 mm bore, 155 to 167 mm tall. The numbers are not aliases of one part — each carries its own filter-industry cross:
- YN21P01088R100 — Sakura EF-27014, listed primary, eco, high efficiency, 4 micron absolute.
- YN21P01036R100 — Sakura EF-2701, primary, eco, 14 micron, upgradeable to EF-27040 at 7 micron.
- YN21P01068R100 — EXCO FX46385, the EF-2701 cartridge, listed with Hitachi 4649267 / 4676385 and John Deere 467638.
- YN21P01036S002 / VH23390E0010 — Fiat Kobelco forms of the same element in supplier tables.
The cross-brand side is unusually wide. The same cartridge carries Hitachi 4649267 and 4676385, Isuzu 8971527380, John Deere 467638, Case IH KHH12030 / 47585451 / MMH80590 / KHH10590 and LS21P01013R100, with Donaldson P502463, Fleetguard FF5786, Baldwin PF7983, Hifi SN 25044 and Hengst E801KPD503 on the filter side. One shelf line covers three brands — which is exactly why the numbers get quoted loosely.
3. Four micron against fourteen
The two Sakura cartridges in this envelope are not the same filtration. EF-27014 is published at 4 micron absolute; EF-2701 at 14 micron, with a 7-micron upgrade path in EF-27040. Both are described as "primary", which cannot be literally true on one engine — one of those lines is a catalogue habit rather than a statement about position.
On a J05E with common-rail injection that gap is expensive. A 14-micron element in the secondary position passes the abrasive that scores injector nozzles, and the failure arrives months later as hard starting and a rail fault, never as a filter complaint. A 4-micron element in the separator position on dirty bulk diesel loads up in weeks — the customer reports "these filters block early" and goes back to whatever was in it before.
So the question is not "which number" but "which position". Tell us where the element sits — bowl with a water sensor and drain, or a canister on the engine — and the number follows.
4. One letter, twenty millimetres
Suffixes are not decoration. One supplier lists YN21P01088R100D as the secondary element for the SK200-8 at 114 mm outside, 26.3 mm bore, 155.5 mm long, Beta 75 at 4 micron — twenty millimetres wider than what the same trade sells as YN21P01088R100. It is a single source and we will not call it correct, but the risk is plain: a letter on the end of a number can mean a different diameter, not different packaging.
The same pattern runs through the family: YN21P01088R100D1, YN21P01088S002 and YN21P01088F1 all appear in the same listings, priced from a few dollars to a hundred and forty. Treat each as a separate question until a dimension settles it.
5. The F suffix is an assembly
YN21P01088F1 is not an element. Kobelco's breakdown for the fuel filter with separator lists the assembly as LS21P01028F1, and item 1-1 inside it as element YN21P01088R100; the F1 is also sold with the base included and the water sensor excluded. One distributor quotes it around a hundred and forty dollars, two orders of magnitude above an element — that is the tell.
A quote that comes back at base money has priced the head, not the cartridge. Ask for height and weight.
6. Hydraulic return: 250 mm, or two of 130 mm
Sakura publishes H-7923 for the SK200-8, and for the Daewoo 170-5 as well, which shows how widely these cartridges are used. It measures 249 mm overall, 231 mm of media, 144 mm outside, 142.5 mm at the second diameter, 96.5 mm bore, a 4 7/16-11 G thread, in microfiber. East Filters lists the same part as H-7923-1, marks it replaced by H-4101, and notes that the -1 is two pieces: two H-8523 elements.
On the Kobelco side the numbers quoted for the -8 return filter are YN52V01016R100, R600 and R610, with Donaldson P502561 given against the R610 at roughly 251 by 144 by 96 mm. A second supplier sheet prints the same family at 130 mm overall with a 100/111 mm bore, and one catalogue sells it as single 130 mm or double 265 mm. Those are not the same part, and cross-referencing will not merge them.
Practically: open the housing. One tall element means order the ~250 mm; a pair means order the pair. Keep the SK200-10 element (YN52V01025R100, about 260 × 154 × 84 mm, Donaldson P502636) away from a -8 tank.
7. Three cabin filters, one machine
Sakura lists three cabin air filters for the SK200-8, and they are physically different: CA-41010 at 17 mm thick by 200 by 189.5 mm; CA-41020 with its set version CA-41020-S at 15 mm thick by 490 by 123 mm, two to a set; and CA-45050 at 47.5 mm by 240 by 193.5 mm with pull tabs. Fresh air and recirculating positions differ in size, so ordering "the cabin filter for SK200-8" without naming the position leaves you one filter short.
8. Ordering notes
- Send the serial and a photo of the old element with a tape across it. The -8 generation ran long enough that Kobelco revised filtration mid-life, and height is the measurement the sources disagree on.
- Say which fuel position. Water separator or engine canister decides between the 4-micron and the 14-micron cartridge.
- Do not cross-shop on the number alone. YN21P01088R100, YN21P01068R100 and YN21P01036R100 are three parts; only a measurement or a parts book separates them.
- Aftermarket, stated plainly. Everything we supply is aftermarket, cross-referenced to Kobelco numbers for fitment only. Kobelco and Hino are trademarks of their owners; if your service contract requires genuine parts, quote the OEM number to your dealer.
- No published prices. Quote depends on quantity, packing and lane — FOB Shanghai or CIF.

Where sources conflict on height, bore, micron rating or configuration, both figures are printed here rather than averaged. No service intervals, no flow or beta figures and no prices are quoted, because the sources read do not publish them for these numbers.
FAQ
Q: What filters does a Kobelco SK200-8 take?
A: The SK200-8 runs the Hino J05E. On the fuel side it takes a spin-on can, Kobelco VH23390E0050 (Hino 23390-E0050), catalogued by Sakura as FC-55241 at 210 mm high and 108 mm outside with a 1-14 UNS-2B thread, plus one or more 94 mm cartridges sold as YN21P01088R100, YN21P01068R100 and YN21P01036R100. Hydraulically, Sakura lists H-7923, H-4101-S and H-41013-S for the same machine at 249 mm overall, 144 mm outside and a 96.5 mm bore.
Q: Is YN21P01088R100 the same as YN21P01068R100?
A: No, though they get quoted as one. Both are 94 mm cartridges with a 26 mm bore, but Sakura's cross for YN21P01036R100 is EF-2701 at 167 mm high and 14 micron, while its cross for YN21P01088R100 is EF-27014 at 156.5 mm high and 4 micron absolute. EXCO lists YN21P01068R100 against the same EF-2701 cartridge as Hitachi 4649267 and John Deere 467638. Ten millimetres and ten microns separate parts buyers treat as interchangeable.
Q: What size is the SK200-8 fuel filter element?
A: 94 mm outside and a 26 mm bore in every source read. Height is where they part: 156.5 mm on Sakura EF-27014, 167 mm overall with 155 mm media on EF-2701, 162.7 mm on the EXCO listing, 155 mm on one supplier sheet. Measure the element you remove, cap to cap, before ordering from a number alone.
Q: Is the SK200-8 hydraulic return filter one 250 mm element or two 130 mm elements?
A: Both configurations are in circulation and the number does not settle it. Sakura publishes H-7923 for the SK200-8 at 249 mm overall and 231 mm media, 144 mm outside, 96.5 mm bore; East Filters marks H-7923-1 as two pieces, two H-8523 elements, replaced by H-4101. Supplier sheets for the YN52V01016 family also print a 130 mm height. Open the housing and count before ordering.
