5. Dust-Site Service Rules That Actually Extend Engine Life

  • Replace to the indicator, not the calendar. In heavy dust an element can be finished in a fraction of the manual's interval; on clean work it can outlast it.
  • Never clean and reuse. No compressed air, no washing, no tapping out. Damage the media or the seal and the element passes dust while looking serviceable.
  • Fit outer and inner as a pair. Replacing one and leaving the other in service leaves a loaded element in a filter position.
  • Grease and seat the seal correctly. Most "the filter was faulty" cases are a radial seal that was not seated or a latch not closed — dust then bypasses the element entirely.
