Where the J700 Nose Sits

J700 is the rung just under J800, and it is the one that turns up on 385-class buckets that are not quite heavy enough to justify an 8.8 kg-plus point. Two castings in the aftermarket carry it most often: the loader standard long point 4T-4702 and its rock chisel version 4T-4702RC. Both run on retainer 4T-4707. Both weld into a 222-7700HD excavator base on the 365 to 390 class, or a 171-1704 loader base on 988 and 992 wheel loaders. And both are published at two different weights depending on which catalogue you read.

Everything on the J700 Nose

All of these share the J700 retainer 4T-4707 and the same adapter noses — this is the spread that one order line saying "J700 teeth" can hide:

Note what the dimensions do across the family: the penetration point is 62 mm deep at the base and the loader point is 180 mm. That depth is the body that wraps the nose and takes the load when a loader drives the bucket into a pile — which is why a penetration point fitted to a wheel loader disappears in a season even though it sits on the same nose and the same pin. Our J600 and J700 guide prints the equivalent table for the J600 family beside this one.

What to Check Before You Order

Three things decide whether a set of 4T-4702 tips fits and lasts. The pin: J700 hardware is printed as 9U-9616 on the excavator rows and 4T-4708 on the loader base rows, and both are sold under the same series letter — quote the number off the pin you pulled, or its diameter and length. The base: 222-7700HD is a 92.3 kg casting against 50.5 kg for the J600 equivalent, so a bucket that needs to move up a rung needs a rebuild, not a box of teeth. And the profile: replacing 68.5 kg abrasion points with 41 kg standard points changes how the bucket loads, and the operator will notice inside a day.

We supply 4T-4702 and the rest of the J700 family as aftermarket castings with pins, retainers and bases in the same line item, and we confirm the nose class from a photo of your old tooth and base before shipping.

FAQ

Q: What pin and retainer does a 4T-4702 take?
A: Retainer 4T-4707 (alternative 113-4707) across the whole family. The pin splits: TRASTEEL prints 9U-9616 (alternative 113-4708) on the excavator tips and bases and 4T-4708 on the 171-1704 loader weld-on base, while Black Cat's J700 pin block prints 4T-4708 with the same 4T-4707 retainer.

Q: How heavy is a 4T-4702 bucket tooth?
A: TRASTEEL prints 41 kg for the loader standard long profile (420 × 202 × 180 mm); Black Cat prints 97.3 lb / 44.13 kg — a 3.1 kg gap on one casting. Inside the same J700 nose the spread runs from 39 kg (4T-4709) through 48 kg (4T-4702RC) and 50 kg (171-1709) to 68.5 kg (4T-4703), 72 kg (135-9700) and 154.2 lb / 69.95 kg for the J700HDAL abrasion point.

Q: Which machines does the 4T-4702 fit?
A: Through the 222-7700HD weld-on base on 365 / 375 / 385 / 390 class excavator buckets — the heavy bases 222-7701HD and 222-7702HD at 159 kg and 100-7416HD at 101 kg are published for 385 and 390. On the loader side the 171-1704 base (also sold as 4T-4704, 75 kg, 585 × 200 × 75 mm) is published for 988 / 992, and Black Cat's strap table lists J700 at 3.50 in for the 992 and the 385.
