Why the Oil Filter Is a Truck Number

Kobelco does not put its own number on this filter, and Sakura's SK250-8 application page does not list an engine oil filter at all. The clearest published link runs through the filter makers: Baldwin's off-highway applications list carries the line "SK250-8 with Hino J05E engine, dual-flow lube (15607-2190) ... BD7325". WIX covers the same can as 57190 and prints it for Hino trucks on the J08E. So the part to search is a Hino number, and the Kobelco model is the application, not the source.

A four millimetre spread in published diameter across four reputable catalogues is normal for a can with a rolled seam and an integral gasket. It also means a 115 mm housing bore will not take the widest variant, so measure before you commit a pallet.

Dual-Flow, and the Substitution That Fails

Inside the shell there are two media paths: the full-flow element that filters everything in normal running, and a bypass element that keeps oil moving to the bearings when the main media blinds or the oil is cold. It is the reason for the 206 mm can. A single-stage lube filter of similar diameter will screw on and the engine will run — until hot idle pressure tells you what changed.

The specific trap is Hino 15607-2050: 196 to 199 mm high, 114 to 118 mm outside, 1 1/2-16 UN thread, 109.5 / 96.5 mm gasket, a standard lube filter for Ranger, Dutro and 500-series trucks. Same thread, close diameter, eight millimetres shorter, not dual-flow. It is cheap and it is everywhere, which is exactly why it turns up on excavators that should not have it.

What We Supply, and What We Do Not Claim

We supply aftermarket dual-flow canisters cross-referenced to 15607-2190 for fitment. We do not claim they are genuine Hino or Kobelco parts, and we do not publish a micron rating for this can: the catalogues read for this page give construction and dimensions, not a filtration figure, and inventing one would be worse than leaving it out. Kobelco and Hino are trademarks of their owners; where a service contract requires genuine parts, quote 15607-2190 to your dealer.

FAQ

Q: What size is the 15607-2190 oil filter?
A: About 206 mm high and 118 mm outside on a 1 1/2-16 UN thread. Hytec prints 205.49 x 115.72 mm, WIX 206.2 x 118.1 mm for 57190, Baldwin 206.4 x 118.3 mm for BD7325, Grainger 8 1/8 in by 4 11/16 in. Measure the can you take off.

Q: What does dual-flow mean on this filter?
A: A full-flow element and a bypass element share one canister. The full-flow side filters all the oil in normal running; the bypass side keeps oil reaching the bearings when the main media is cold or blinded. That is why the can is 206 mm tall, and why an ordinary Hino truck filter with the same thread cannot take its place.

Q: Can I use Hino 15607-2050 instead?
A: Not as a direct swap without checking. 15607-2050 is 196 to 199 mm high, 114 to 118 mm outside, 1 1/2-16 UN with a 109.5 / 96.5 mm gasket, a plain lube filter for Ranger, Dutro and 500-series trucks. Close enough on thread and diameter to tempt a counter sale, about 8 mm shorter, and not dual-flow.

Q: Which machines take 15607-2190?
A: Baldwin's off-highway list maps Kobelco SK250-8 with the Hino J05E to 15607-2190 and BD7325. Aftermarket sellers name SK200-8, SK210-8, SK250-8 and SK260-8, and the same filter is sold for Hino and Nissan UD trucks under 15607-2190, S156072190 and 156072190A.
