The Hyundai 29-tonne class — R290, R300 and the R320 sized buckets they share — is a workhorse in West Africa, the Gulf and Latin America, and it is also the class where the Doosan and Hyundai part numbers finally collide. The R290 tooth is sold under three numbers that all point at one casting, and the weights printed next to those numbers run from 6.40 kg to 9.00 kg depending on which catalogue you open. That gap is the whole story of this article.
Everything below is quoted from sources read on 9 October 2026: BDI's Hyundai wear-parts list, Black Cat's Hyundai teeth chart, SBIC America's printed production list, SJ-GET's foundry pages, hceparts and Hyundai Construction Equipment's own product page. No list prices are given — a tooth ships as tooth plus pin plus retainer plus adapter, and the freight lane moves the number more than the casting does.
One tooth, three numbers
The same point is published as E262-3046 on the Hyundai side, as 61N8-31310 as a Hyundai house number, and as 2713-9038 in the Doosan and Daewoo lists. Foundry pages print all three on one line. What changes between the rows is the weight:
| Number | Where it is printed | Quoted weight | Fit row |
|---|---|---|---|
| E262-3046 | BDI wear-parts list | 7.60 kg | "R290 Tooth", fit R290/320/235 |
| 262-3046 | Black Cat Hyundai chart | 16.8 lb — 7.62 kg | R250LC-7A, R290LC-7, 320NLC-7A |
| E262-3046 = 2713-9038 = 61N8-31310 | SJ-GET foundry page | 6.4 kg | Samsung / Hyundai / Doosan, R210 R290 RC250 |
| 2713-6043 (alias 2713-9038) | SBIC America production list | 16.53 lb — 7.50 kg | DH280 / DH320, pin SB-P235 |
| 2713-9038 | Doosan SOLAR 330-III bucket parts key | 8 kg — 256 × 115 × 109 mm | Item 4 of the bucket key |
| 61N8-31310 | BDI wear-parts list | 9.00 kg | "61N8-31310 SYL Tooth" |
Read the two American rows together and the casting is obvious: 16.8 lb for the Hyundai number on Black Cat's chart, 16.53 lb for the Doosan number on SBIC's list — a 1.6 per cent spread, which is ordinary between bare castings and packed parts. Now read the first and last row of the same table and you are 1.4 kg apart on one tooth number. That is not drift; it is a different profile or a heavier grade sold under the same base number, and it is why we ask for the old tooth on a scale.
Standard, rock chisel, tiger: the profile rows
Profiles are where the weight spread inside one number becomes a real ordering risk.
| Profile | Numbers as printed | Quoted weights |
|---|---|---|
| Standard point | E262-3046 / 262-3046 (Black Cat) / 2713-9038 / 61N8-31310 | 6.4 kg (SJ-GET), 7.50 kg (SBIC), 7.60 kg (BDI), 7.62 kg (Black Cat), 8 kg (Doosan bucket key), 9.00 kg (BDI's 61N8-31310 row) |
| Rock chisel (RC) | E262-3046RC / 2713-9038RC / 61N8-31310RC | 6.40 kg and 9.40 kg — two rows, same number in BDI's list; 20.9 lb (9.48 kg) Black Cat; 8.5–10 kg SJ-GET |
| Tiger long (T) | E262-3046T | 19.6 lb — 8.89 kg (Black Cat) |
| Twin tiger (WT) | E262-3046WT | 20.7 lb — 9.39 kg (Black Cat) |
| Heavy rock point | 61N8-31310GG | 10.5 kg (SJ-GET) |
| Tiger long, house number | 61N8-31310TL | 10.00 kg, printed as "R300 TL Tooth" (BDI) |
The rock chisel line is worth pausing on. BDI's own list carries E262-3046RC twice — once at 6.40 kg and once at 9.40 kg on a row labelled "R29 HD RC Tooth". One number, two weights, one catalogue. Black Cat separates the same two ideas by number and prints the RC at 20.9 lb, which is 9.48 kg, and the heavy HD variant exists for exactly one reason: rock. Quote the RC weight with the RC number, or the customer gets whichever row the supplier happened to read.
The pin crosses both brands, and that is where the numbers merge
Here is the mechanical reason a Hyundai number and a Doosan number end up on the same foundry line. The hardware is shared:
- Pin E262-5004 — quoted at 0.26 kg by BDI and 0.28 kg by a Hyundai parts listing, and described there as the pin for "(E262-3046)(61N8-31310)".
- The same pin is printed as P235 in the Doosan lists. SBIC's production list prints an SB-P235 pin against the 2713-6043 tooth; a US distributor prints "takes a P235 pin and a 3G9549 retainer" for the 2713-9038 tooth; and SJ-GET's own family table prints the pin column as "E262-5004/P235". Three suppliers, one pin, two numbers.
- Retainer 61E5-11150 — quoted at 0.05 kg by BDI and 0.08 kg by a Hyundai parts listing.
Note the "3G9549" retainer number on that Doosan row. A 3G prefix is Caterpillar tooling in these catalogues, printed against a Daewoo tooth — a small reminder that these lists are compiled by hand from dealer screens, and that the number on the page is not always the number in the box. Measure the pin rather than trusting the interchange line: a 0.26 kg pin and a 0.28 kg pin look identical in a photograph.
Adapters: E262-3027 in 40 mm and 50 mm
The tooth is the easy half. The adapter is welded to the bucket lip and decides what you can bolt on for the life of that bucket.
| Adapter | Opening | Quoted weights | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| E262-3027 | 40 mm bevel | 13.20 kg (BDI), 13.2 kg (Aili), 12.8 kg / 28.22 lb (hceparts), 12 kg (UNAS 2020 catalogue; also a foundry row printed as E262-3027-40) | Filed under R290 by BDI, described as an "R305 adapter series" by hceparts, and printed by Aili for R305/R300/XD290/XD320/R290/R360/R320 |
| E262-3027 | 50 mm bevel | 12.80 kg (BDI) | The wider opening is the lighter casting — normal for a bevel adapter |
| 61N8-31320 | 40 mm vertical | 13.8 kg (BDI), 14.4 kg against the R290-7 (hceparts) | Foundry naming prints it as 61N8-31320-40 |
| 61N8-31320 | 1.38 in — 35 mm — square throat | 24.3 lb — 11.02 kg (Black Cat) | Same number as the row above, different opening, 2.8 kg lighter |
| 2713-9037 (Doosan side) | 40 mm | 12 kg (DH280-A-40, Jiangxi), 12.2 kg (Beneparts, DH280), 13 kg (Doosan SOLAR 330-III bucket key), 14.1 kg (US distributor list) | The adapter that carries the Doosan 2713-9038 point on a DH280 or SOLAR 330-III |
Two things fall out of that table. First, 61N8-31320 is printed at both 40 mm and 1.38 in — 35 mm — under the same number, and the two castings are 2.8 kg apart. Second, E262-3027 is filed under the R290 by one supplier and under the R305 by another, which is not an error; it is what happens when one adapter sits at the top of the 29-tonne class and the bottom of the next one up.
Where the E262 family stops: R305LVS and R350LVS
Machine badge alone will not settle an order, because the R305 appears on both sides of the family boundary. BDI's fit column for 61NA-31310, a 12.90 kg point, reads R275LVS / R305LVS / R350LVS / 360LC-400LC, and Black Cat prints the same point at 28.5 lb — 12.93 kg — which is an independent confirmation of the weight. The adapter that carries it, 61NA-31320, is printed at 18.60 kg with a 42 mm opening by BDI and at 1.38 in (35 mm) square throat, 40.6 lb (18.42 kg), by Black Cat — the same 35-against-42 mm disagreement that follows this family around.
So a "R305 bucket tooth" enquiry has two correct answers: if the bucket sits on a wheel machine whose fit rows read R305LVS, it takes the heavier 61NA family and the E262 tooth will not seat. If the machine is a crawler in the R290/R320 group, E262-3046 with the E262-3027 adapter is the answer. Ask which, before you quote.
What the machine itself is
Hyundai Construction Equipment's own figures for the R290LC-7A:
| Item | Hyundai published figure |
|---|---|
| Operating weight | 29 t (63,934 lb) |
| Bucket capacity | 1.27 m³ (1.66 yd³) |
| Rated power | 169 kW / 1,900 rpm (226 hp / 1,900 rpm) |
| Max torque | 96.8 kgf·m / 1,400 rpm |
Expect the weight to be disputed, because it is. RitchieSpecs lists the R290LC-7A high chassis at 70,860 lb — 32,143 kg — with 197 hp net; LECTURA lists the R 290 LC 7A built from 2007 to 2010 at 33.31 t with a 600 mm track. That is the same badge quoted 29, 32 and 33 tonnes. None of it changes which tooth fits, and all of it changes the freight: quote the machine with its serial prefix and take the specification from the plate, not from a listing.
The rest of the bucket
Buckets in this class get re-edged in the same workshop that changes the teeth, so cutters travel on the same order. BDI prints the 5-hole side cutter pair 63E1-3533 and 63E1-3534 at 20.80 kg each against a R200/210/290/320 fit row. List them on the same line as the teeth: the freight is paid either way, and a bucket that arrives with new points and worn cutters is back in the shop inside a season.
How to order without a return
Four things settle an R290 or R320 tooth order:
- The machine model with its serial prefix, plus whether the bucket is the crawler build or a -LVS wheel machine.
- A photo of the old tooth sitting in the bucket — pocket, pin line and nose in one frame.
- The pin measured with a caliper, shank diameter first, then length. Not the part number: two shares one number.
- The old tooth on a scale, and the adapter opening in millimetres. 6.4 kg against 9.0 kg is a profile decision you can settle in ten seconds at the bench.
Send those four and the quote comes back firm on tooth, pin, retainer, adapter and cutters on one line, FOB Shanghai or CIF to your port.
FAQ
Q: What bucket tooth does a Hyundai R290 take?
A: The standard point is E262-3046 — 7.60 kg in BDI's list, 16.8 lb (7.62 kg) in Black Cat's chart for the R250LC-7A, R290LC-7 and 320NLC-7A — on adapter E262-3027 (40 mm bevel 13.20 kg, 50 mm bevel 12.80 kg), pinned with E262-5004 at 0.26 kg and retainer 61E5-11150. The rock chisel is E262-3046RC; the heavy rock point is sold as 61N8-31310, printed at 9.00 kg.
Q: Is the Hyundai E262-3046 the same tooth as the Doosan 2713-9038?
A: Foundries sell one casting under E262-3046, 2713-9038 and 61N8-31310, and the weights agree where the castings are the same: 16.8 lb (7.62 kg) on Black Cat's Hyundai chart against 16.53 lb (7.50 kg) on SBIC's Doosan row. The wider 6.40–9.00 kg spread across sources is profiles and grades under one base number.
Q: What pin and retainer does the Hyundai R290 bucket tooth use?
A: Pin E262-5004 at 0.26 kg with retainer 61E5-11150 at 0.05 kg. The pin is printed as P235 in the Doosan lists, and one foundry family table writes it as "E262-5004/P235" — same part, two numbers.
Q: Which adapter fits the R290 tooth — E262-3027 or 61N8-31320?
A: Both are published. E262-3027 as a 40 mm bevel at 13.20 kg and a 50 mm bevel at 12.80 kg; 61N8-31320 as a 40 mm vertical at 13.8 kg, but also at 1.38 in (35 mm) square throat, 11.02 kg, under the same number. Measure the pocket in the bucket nose.
