Volvo EC210B Filters: Ten Positions, 14509379 and 14524170
A Volvo EC210B carries ten service filters: engine oil 11708551, fuel 11711074, water separator 11110683, air cleaner outer 11110175 with inner 11110176, hydraulic return element 14509379, low-pressure hydraulic spin-on 14524170, breaker filter 14510898 if a hammer is fitted, breather 14596399 and pilot strainer 1141-00010. The two positions that come back wrong are the oil filter and the hydraulic pair.
The EC210B is the machine that made the 21-tonne Volvo class ordinary — built 2003 to 2009 in B-prime form, still working in numbers across West Africa, the Gulf and Southeast Asia. Volvo's archived sheet lists the D6D at 107 kW (143 hp), 20.9 to 22.3 t and buckets from 0.75 to 1.55 m³; the Asian B-prime page prints 20,700 to 23,700 kg, 123 kW gross and 0.48 to 1.27 m³, which is what happens when one document quotes net and the other gross. For the filter order the only thing that matters is that the B, C and D builds look alike on a site and their filter lists do not overlap as neatly as the model name suggests.
1. Ten positions, and where each one lives
A full service here is not one kit — it is four groups of parts bought together: engine side, hydraulic side, intake, and the small items.
| Position | Number | Published size / note |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil | 11708551 | Cartridge, 83 mm OD × 211.5–214 mm H, about 0.12–0.16 kg; cross Mahle OX 174D |
| Fuel, first stage | 11711074 | Element; also printed 11711074 as FI074 by European dealers |
| Fuel, second stage | 11110474 | Listed with 11711074 in EC210B service kits |
| Fuel / water separator | 11110683 | Separator bowl element; 11110668 and 14621335 also appear for this position |
| Air cleaner, outer | 11110175 | 472 × 235–236 mm OD × 131 mm ID, 2.29 kg; cross P778905, AF25748, RS4620 |
| Air cleaner, safety | 11110176 | Inside the 11110175; cross P778906, AF25749 |
| Hydraulic return (in tank) | 14509379 | Element 450 × 150 × 110 mm, 1.95–2.19 kg; cross P551210, HF35449, PT9357 |
| Low-pressure hydraulic | 14524170 | Spin-on 93 × 136 mm, thread 1 1/8-16 UN; cross P556005 |
| Breaker circuit | 14510898 | 317 mm long element, Hifi SH 60314 — only on machines with a hammer |
| Tank breather / pilot strainer | 14596399 / 1141-00010 | Breather on the hydraulic tank; strainer on the pilot suction line |
Two more numbers belong on the sheet if the machine has them: cabin filter 14506997, and coolant filter 20532237 on builds that carry one. Both are cheap and both get skipped, which is how an EC210B in a dusty yard ends up with a clogged evaporator and a cooling system running on unfiltered water.
2. The oil filter: 11708551 or 3831236
This is the first place where two documents disagree and neither is obviously wrong. Volvo's parts breakdown for the D6D shows 11708551 sitting under a cover with its own sealing ring and drain valve — in other words, an element inside a housing, not a can. The published dimensions agree: 83 mm outside diameter, 211.5 to 214 mm high depending on which catalogue page you read, 28 mm inside at the base, and a filter weight of 120 to 160 g. Mahle sells the same element as OX 174D. The same figure appears in Volvo dealer filter lists for the EC210B, the EC180B and the EC160B, which all use D6D-family engines.
Then a dozen service kits for the "EC210B with D6D" list 3831236 as the engine oil filter instead, crossing to Donaldson P553771. That is a spin-on canister, and it does not fit a housing built for a cartridge. Kits get assembled from a year range rather than a serial range, and the D6D went through more than one filter head over the run. The practical rule is one look at the machine: a housing with a bolt-on cover and a drain plug takes 11708551, a threaded spigot takes a spin-on. Order on the model name alone and you have a 50/50, and the wrong half costs a service interval.
There is a third number in circulation, 21707132, sold as the bypass filter for the same engine family. If your parts book shows two engine oil filters rather than one, that is a bypass-equipped build and you should order both.
3. The hydraulic side: a 450 mm cartridge and a 136 mm can
An EC210B has more than one hydraulic filter, and this is where most wrong orders start, because "the hydraulic filter" is not a part — it is a position.
The return element 14509379 stands inside the hydraulic tank: 450 mm high, 150 mm outside, 110 mm bore, published at 1.95 kg on Donaldson's page and 2.19 kg on a European dealer's — a packing difference, not two parts. Volvo's filter pages list it for the EC140B through EC240B and the EW145B, crossing to Donaldson P551210, Baldwin PT9357, Fleetguard HF35449 and Hifi HX39379. Nobody sees it until the tank cap comes off, which is why a buyer accepts whatever the counter hands over.
The low-pressure spin-on 14524170 is a different object: 93 mm outside, 136 mm long, 1 1/8-16 UN thread, gasket 72 mm outside and 62 mm inside, crossing Donaldson P556005 and Hifi HX15261. Filter catalogues list it as a low-pressure hydraulic filter for the EC210B, EC210C, EC235C, EC240B and EC290B; Chinese and Russian parts sellers call the same number the servo filter. Either way it is a can, and a can is not the return element — 314 mm of height separates them.
If the machine runs a breaker, add 14510898, published at 317 mm long and sold as Hifi SH 60314. It sits on the hammer circuit and does nothing useful on a machine without one. And keep the tank breather 14596399 on the list: a blocked breather pressurises the tank, the return element goes into bypass earlier than it should, and the first symptom is oil spitting when the cap is opened.
4. Air cleaner: 11110175 outside, 11110176 inside
The pair is often printed backwards on dealer sheets, so go on size. 11110175 is the outer primary: 472 mm long, 235 to 236 mm outside diameter, 131 mm bore, 2.29 kg, crossing Donaldson P778905, Fleetguard AF25748, Baldwin RS4620, Mann C24904/2 and Hifi SA 16212. 11110176 is the safety element inside it, crossing P778906 and AF25749. One catalogue prints 460 mm and another 471 mm for the same 11110175; that is measurement convention, not a second part. The safety element is the one left in place for years, and in dust it is the element passing grit into the engine. Full sizes, cross-references and the housing-number trap are in Volvo 11110175 and 11110176, with the elements on the 11110175 and 11110176 pages.
5. Fuel side, and the separator that has three numbers
The fuel filter is 11711074, with 11110474 as the second stage in EC210B kits. The water separator is where catalogues spread out: 11110683 is the Racor-type element most European dealers stock, 11110668 appears as a complete separator assembly, and 14621335 is listed as a 30-micron separator for the EC200B, EC210B, EC210D, EC240B and EC290B. Those are two separator designs and one assembly, not three names for one element. Photograph the bowl and the head before ordering — thread and bowl diameter decide it, not the model name.
6. What to send with the order
- The model plate and the serial. EC210B, EC210B LC, EC210C and EC210D are four different filter lists, and the plate settles which one you have.
- One photo of the oil filter housing. Cover and drain plug means cartridge 11708551; threaded spigot means a spin-on.
- The height of the old hydraulic filter. 450 mm is the in-tank return element 14509379, 136 mm is the low-pressure spin-on 14524170. Then confirm the thread on the can.
- Whether a hammer is fitted. 14510898 is only for breaker machines, and fitting it to a machine without one buys nothing.
- Both air elements and the breather. Neither is expensive, and both are left off a hydraulic-only checklist.
We supply these as aftermarket elements cross-referenced to Volvo numbers, quoted FOB Shanghai or CIF. Nothing here is a genuine Volvo part; Volvo is a trademark of its owner, used to describe fitment only. For the method, read how to read a filter cross-reference and pilot, case drain and return explained.

Where two catalogues give different figures, both are printed here. No prices, service intervals or filtration ratings are quoted, because the sources we read do not publish them for these numbers.
FAQ
Q: What filters does a Volvo EC210B take?
A: Ten service positions, and the numbers the parts catalogues print for them: engine oil 11708551, fuel 11711074 with 11110474 as a second stage, fuel/water separator 11110683, air cleaner outer 11110175 and inner 11110176, hydraulic return element 14509379, low-pressure hydraulic spin-on 14524170, breaker circuit filter 14510898 only if the machine runs a hammer, tank breather 14596399 and pilot suction strainer 1141-00010.
Q: Is the EC210B oil filter 11708551 or 3831236?
A: Both numbers appear against EC210B service kits, and they are not the same part. 11708551 is a cartridge element published at 83 mm outside diameter and about 211 to 214 mm high that sits under a cover on the filter housing, crossing to Mahle OX 174D. 3831236 is a spin-on canister crossing to Donaldson P553771. Open the housing before ordering: a cover with a drain valve takes the cartridge, a threaded spigot takes the canister.
Q: Is 14524170 the same as 14509379?
A: No. 14509379 is an in-tank return element published at 450 mm high, 150 mm outside and 110 mm bore, crossing Donaldson P551210 and Fleetguard HF35449. 14524170 is a low-pressure hydraulic spin-on canister published at 93 mm outside and 136 mm long with a 1 1/8-16 UN thread, crossing Donaldson P556005. One is a cartridge standing in the tank, the other is a can screwing onto a head, so the height alone tells you which one came off.
Q: Which air cleaner element is the outer one on a Volvo EC210B?
A: 11110175 is the outer primary element, published at 472 mm long, 235 to 236 mm outside diameter and 131 mm inside, crossing Donaldson P778905 and Fleetguard AF25748. 11110176 is the safety element inside it, crossing P778906 and AF25749. Some dealer sheets print the pair the other way round, so order on the size: the larger element is the primary.
